If there is one thing that frustrates me to no end, it is not having the right words to say to a friend when they need it.
Thankfully, there are times when if I don't have them, I know someone who does.
Usually it's [livejournal.com profile] kae_dash, or [livejournal.com profile] dormant_dragon.

Tonight, K saved me, and by proxy, that someone else who needed to hear the words I didn't have.

wow ...

?skip=360 got me back to the 16th of October, two weeks ago, almost enough to cover the time I'd been away. Two and a bit weeks without regular internet access. How'd I survive? Easily. I had all I really needed right by my side. My workmates wondered how I had survived. Geeks.

It was heartwarming to roll back to the 18/10 and see the happy birthday posts. I am remembered! Too often I feel ignored, or out of the loop over here, so far from every comfort zone I cherish. Thank you for those reminders.

some photos, I didn't take many, incoming now at a gallery nearer you than me.

friends!

I had [livejournal.com profile] le_dauncer and one of her friends stay over last night on their way back from a cheer leading competition up on the Gold Coast. They stopped past here last Wednesday night too, on their way up. T'was brilliant to have them around.
I had the joy of driving [livejournal.com profile] le_dauncer's car down to the airport to pick them up. Really bizarrely, it only took me twenty minutes to get there. I was expecting something closer to 40-50 minutes but this was a straight run. The car stopped precicely once at one set of traffic lights. There are maybe 5 sets of lights between my house and the airport, thanks to the Eastern Distributor and the Gore Freeway.
an hour and twenty minutes return trip. wow ... is all i can say.

We ended up making a really good night out having each other around as well. Rhian is a funky dude and i can completely understand why he and Shell get on so well. He's teasable, just like me :) Oh so teasable :)
Due to our complete lack of enthusiasm for cooking we eloped and had Pizza Slut. There's a nifty little bottle shop just across the road from my house which I had not been into before. I do know that they stock Beez Neez beers. They also have a half keg of discount wines. We splashed out and bought two $4 bottles of port. yeah, a serious splash out. I also grabbed a reasonably nice looking bottle of white. We shan't mention the indescribable bottle that Rhian picked out that had overtones of Vegemite.

so ... two large pizzas, tow and a half bottles of plonk later, I'm completely sozzled, we've finished watching Mr and Mrs Smith, laughing riotously at all the corny lines, watching Rhian predict the plot (as he'd never seen it before) and ... wow, two and a half bottles. wow

and as per usual, no hangover in the morning. sweeet.

If there's one thing better than waking up in the morning with no hangover after a good night's drinking, it's having the profilegirl you love call.

I did something last night that made not merely my week, but will make my month.

Booked flights for [livejournal.com profile] dormant_draon to fly over here later this month. sweet! bouncy bouncey bounce!
She's flying in on the night of the 23/6, and back to Perth on the evening of the 25th.
Do I start counting ...
No, I get something else to do it for me :)
1760400 seconds to go (as of this edit)

I wonder if you can include the output of a web page in Lj ... hmmmmmm

You all write the most wonderful things

::hug::

Two major things have happened in the last week (and a bit) and the responses I have received from everyone has left with more than enough warm fuzzies to last a long time.

dear god, I'll miss you all.

it's amazing what you can find when you go looking for something.

it's a whole 'and now for something completely different'

I was looking for some writing papers. I know that I had some in a box of old letters. I found the paper. I also found a heap of letters from school friends I had in Japan. Dear god I miss them. One thought. I have to go back. There were throughts of doing that late next year. I'm just gonna see how soon I can do that. The sooner the better.
